Bill Theurer is an independent Program and Project Manager with over 15 years of experience. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from San Diego State University and is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
A life-long golfer, Bill’s early career was spent as the Head PGA Professional at California’s beautiful Morro Bay Oceanside Golf Course. While there, he met his wife-to-be Lennie-Renae. The couple wed shortly after moving to Santa Cruz to operate the Aptos Seascape Resort Course.
At the height of the tech boom, and living only a short drive from Silicon Valley, Bill was dragged away from golf in 1999 to help a start-up technology services firm manage reporting and planning processes for 15 business units in a software sales and marketing organization. A few years after a successful IPO, he and Lennie-Renae packed their bags and left to start a family in booming Temecula. While enjoying time off, Bill completed a grueling half iron-man triathlon and vowed never to do that again.
Shortly after their move, an opportunity arose to help an exciting startup define outdoor backyard big-box retailing on the West Coast. Acting as the President’s right hand Bill personally managed many facets of this startup. He sourced and grew the management team, updated the company’s technology infrastructure, implemented a enterprise reporting system, opened and expanded warehouse distribution centers, optimized operations, and managed the tenant improvement for the concept’s new flagship showroom which included stunning backyard design centers with full size indoor swimming pools, spas, and patio furniture in full backyard vignettes with amazing jumbo lifestyle backlit imagery.
With a knack for developing rich relationships though successful project work, filling gaps, solving problems, and getting things done – in 2007 Bill launched “Centrificus Project Management Services, Inc.” and transitioned into a series of independent client projects. Not one to consult, Bill’s motto is, “Consultants shouldn’t tell you how to do it, they should do it for you.”
Centrificus was later contracted with Petco Animal Supplies Inc. to help develop, project manage, test, and rollout a new small convenience store concept called Unleashed by Petco. In partnership with Petco senior leadership and more than 20 internal cross-functional teams they quickly created a new brand and a new experience. From soft concept to implementation the project team opened the first prototype store in 8 months and with board approval 25 more test stores in 7 markets the following year. The concept has surpassed the 7th largest national pet store chain with more than 100 stores in the 5th year.
Other projects with Petco included opening their first international flagship store in Puerto Rico, updating the company’s brand identity, growing the Project Management Office, exploring future Omni-Channel opportunities to better serve evolving customer needs and expectations, and implementing SaaS IBM Tririga and Ceridian Dayforce software solutions.
Bill currently works with a variety of clients personally leading critical programs and projects by cross-functionally building teams, filling in talent and resource gaps, and managing execution A – Z for senior leadership and investors in large and medium sized businesses.
When not working Bill loves spending time with his wife and young family, traveling, playing golf and tennis, youth travel baseball, and triathlons.
